This is a Ben Nevis distilled in 1998 and bottled in 2020 at 22 years old, released by Hidden Spirits. It matured in a second fill sherry butt, cask BN9820, and 208 bottles were filled at 54.4%.
Ben Nevis sits at the foot of the mountain near Fort William and has been owned by Nikka since 1989.
The nose is layered rather than heavy, with fruity sweetness, vanilla and caramel, and the alcohol sits smoothly. Vanilla, caramel and nuts follow on the palate, and the soft, creamy finish ends in dark chocolate and sweet spices.
