Ben Nevis 2012 11 Year Old – Ingelred

This is an 11-year-old single malt from Ben Nevis, bottled by Blackadder as part of its Ingelred series. It was distilled in March 2012 and bottled in October 2023 at cask strength, with 285 bottles filled. The whisky matured in a single Californian red wine cask, which sets it apart from the usual sherry or bourbon maturation. The nose is inviting, with the sweetness of fresh apples, marzipan and plenty of dried fruit. On the palate a well-balanced sweetness is threaded with dried fruit, along with roasted almonds and creamy chocolate. The whisky is full-bodied and intense in flavour.
