Ben Nevis 2012/2026 13 Year Old Oloroso Cask - Murray McDavid (70cl, 53.2%)

This is a 13-year-old Ben Nevis single malt, bottled by Murray McDavid for its Benchmark series autumn release. It was distilled in 2012 and bottled in 2026 at 53.2%, with no chill-filtering and no added colouring. Casks 2302330 and 2400420 gave 644 bottles of 70cl. The finish took place in American oak casks that previously held Oloroso from Bodega Ximénez-Spínola in Jerez, a sherry made from Pedro Ximénez grapes rather than the usual Palomino. The nose combines sweet raisins, toffee and brown sugar. The palate is rich and malty, with dates and candied apple. The finish leaves toasted almonds and gentle oak spice.
