This is a single cask Ben Nevis single malt, distilled in 2014 and matured for over eight years in a refill bourbon cask. It was bottled in 2023 at cask strength, 58.9%, and the cask gave 180 bottles. It belongs to The Collaboration, a series of single casks selected by Reto Stöckli, and is neither coloured nor chill-filtered.
The nose is fresh, with pear, plum, bread dough and yeast alongside the chalky notes associated with Ben Nevis, and with time some tropical fruit. The palate starts wild, with bitter grasses, almonds and sharp horseradish before malty sweetness appears. Water softens the horseradish and makes it sweeter. The finish is long, as the malt sweetness fades into a drying, chalky bitterness.
