This is a 15 year old single cask Speyside malt from Benriach Distillery, which was founded in 1898. It comes from 1997, is finished in Marsala wood, and is bottled at 54.5% ABV in a 70cl bottle.
Benriach is known for experimental maturation and a varied cask programme. Here the Marsala casks give the malt its richness, alongside the distillery's Speyside fruit character.
The nose has dried figs, honey, sultanas, baked apple and sweet wine notes over soft oak spice. The palate is rich and rounded, with caramelised fruit, raisin bread, toffee, cinnamon and dark honey. The finish is long and warming, with sweet spice and a dessert wine character.
