This is a 21 year old peated single malt from BenRiach, a Speyside distillery. It matured for at least 21 years in a combination of four cask types: ex-bourbon barrels, new oak casks, ex-Oloroso and ex-Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. The whisky from these casks was then married together.
It has a rich amber colour. The nose offers caramelised pear and toasted oak with honeyed peat and smoky pine woods. The palate is soft and creamy, with roasted orchard fruits, eucalyptus, pineapple and star anise, followed by smoky cinnamon. The finish is long, sweet and smoky.
