BenRiach – 32 Year Old 1991 SMWS 12.82 Sponge Cake On The Wine Lake (70cl)

A 32 year old Speyside single malt from BenRiach, distilled in 1991 and bottled by the Scotch Malt Whisky Society as cask 12.82, one of 341 bottles. It belongs to the Old & Dignified category of the Society's Vaults Collection. The whisky spent 27 years in an Oloroso butt before moving to a first-fill Pedro Ximenez butt for the rest of its maturation. The notes describe oloroso sherry, ripe apples and pears, raspberry ripple, tobacco leaf, clay soil and walnut, then sponge fingers, brioche, pistachio cake, orange liqueur, nectarine, plums, bananas and toasted almonds.
