Benriach – 40 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky (70cl, 43.5%)

Benriach 40 Year Old, also called The Forty, is a Speyside single malt Scotch whisky in a 70cl bottle at 43.5% ABV. Master Blender Rachel Barrie put it together from some of the distillery's rarest malts. Benriach was founded in 1898 by John Duff. American oak bourbon casks contribute honeyed pomelo and ripe stone fruit, while port casks from Portugal's Douro Valley add dark chocolate, plum and walnut. The colour is a deep bronze. The nose offers sweet orange, plum, honey pomelo, chocolate-coated berries, walnut and cherry liqueur. The palate has orchard fruits, morello cherry, nectarine, stewed red apple and white peach, ending in a velvety finish of walnut and kumquat.
