Benriach – Authenticus Peated 30 Year Old (70cl, 46%)

This is a 30 year old peated single malt from Benriach, part of the Authenticus range of peaty Highland-style Speyside whiskies. It is bottled at 46% ABV in a 70cl bottle. The peat is cut in the north-east of Scotland, where it contains plenty of wood from ancient trees, along with heather and bracken. Burning it gives the barley sweet smoke and aromatic spices, said to recall a campfire in a Speyside forest. Benriach released its first peated expression, Curiositas, in 2004, the first from a Speysider since World War II.
