BenRiach – Heredotus Fumosus 12 Years Old (70cl, 46%)

Heredotus Fumosus is a 12-year-old heavily peated single malt from BenRiach, released in May 2007 and bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle. It is one of a series of three, each first matured in American oak and then finished in sherry, port or dark rum casks. This one was finished in Pedro Ximénez sherry butts, and its Latin name translates as Smoky Sherry. In the glass it is gold. The nose is sweet peat and smoke with citrus and vanilla over a rich Pedro Ximénez background. On the palate, sweet peat and smoke meet lavender and raisins, and the finish carries the Pedro Ximénez sherry.
