The Original Ten is a 10 year old single malt from BenRiach, bottled at 43% ABV. It was released as part of a core range launched in 2020.
The whisky matures in a trio of bourbon, sherry and new oak casks. This gives plenty of honeyed fruit aromas and softly toasted oak, with a hint of smoke.
The nose offers nectarine, honeydew melon, vanilla cake with cream and jam, and a touch of cedar. On the palate come pastries such as croissants dipped in coffee milk and cinnamon rolls, with creamy orchard fruit and a little earthy peat. The finish is of nutty malt, vanilla and apricot.
