Benriach – The Twenty One 21 Year Old

The Twenty One is a 21 year old Speyside single malt from Benriach. It combines peated and unpeated whisky, matured for at least 21 years in four types of cask: bourbon, sherry, virgin oak and red wine. Sherry and bourbon casks make up the main part of the blend, with virgin oak and wine casks adding further layers, from fruity notes to heavier, smokier ones. The colour is golden, like honey. The nose is elegant, with fruit, honey and spice. The palate offers candied grape, cocoa and smoked pine nuts. The finish brings caramelised pear and honey, ending with good smoke.
