This is a 12 year old Islay single malt distilled at Laphroaig in 2014 and bottled by Berry Bros & Rudd at 57.9% from a single Oloroso cask, number 135. It is one of 295 bottles.
The name Williamson refers to Bessie Williamson, who owned and managed the Laphroaig distillery on Islay's south coast in the middle of the 20th century.
The nose offers caramel-coated digestive biscuits, raisins, dates and a rich touch of walnut. The palate is medicinal and peaty, with iodine, ash and an earthy, rubbery note, lifted by a little citrus. The finish carries smoked fruit, sweet biscuits, tarry peat and lasting medicinal character.
