Laphroaig – 10 Year Sherry Oak Finish (75cl)

This is Laphroaig aged for ten years and finished in sherry casks, made from European oak that previously held Oloroso sherry. The finish adds the sweetness of Oloroso to the peat smoke and seaweed character of the classic 10 year old. It is described with notes of Manuka honey, grilled bacon and maple syrup alongside the peat. On the nose come medicinal touches of bandages, antiseptic and iodine, with cloves, sweet leather and pine tar. The palate is sweet and aromatic, with wax, furniture polish, treacle toffee and bitter dark chocolate, then pencil shavings and cedar. The finish is long, sweet and spicy, with chestnut honey lingering.
