Elements 1.0 is the first release in Laphroaig's Elements series, an Islay single malt matured in ex-bourbon casks. Its fermentation ran for 55 hours, overseen by Distillery Manager Barry MacAffer, and it is bottled at 58.6% ABV.
The colour is a bold auburn. Salty, smoky bacon and woody bonfire embers on the nose sit over sweet strawberry jam and charred pineapple. The palate is spicy and peppery, with tropical fruit, cloves and liquorice. The finish is warming and smoky, long and drying, with peat.
