Laphroaig Càirdeas 2023 is a limited-edition Islay single malt, created for Friends of Laphroaig and bottled at a fixed 52.3%. It draws together the best of the Càirdeas releases of recent years.
Three quarters of the whisky matured in second-fill Madeira casks. The final quarter was finished in first-fill Port casks, most of them white port.
The nose offers cinnamon, ginger, green apple, toasted peaches and a whisper of bonfire embers. The palate pairs honey sweetness and juicy citrus with hazelnut and dark chocolate, leading to iodine-rich smoke. The finish is sweet and smooth, with lingering peat and creosote.
