A Christmas Edition of Big Peat from Douglas Laing, an Islay blended malt bottled in 2017 as a small batch at natural cask strength, 54.1%. It is not chill filtered and comes in a 70cl bottle.
The blend includes malts distilled at Ardbeg, Bowmore, Caol Ila and Port Ellen.
The nose brings roasted peanuts, sea breeze, hints of spearmint and tarry rope. The palate suggests campfire embers with toasted marshmallows and milk chocolate, with some oak at times. The finish is oily malt, pine nuts and a lingering earthy note.
