Big Peat Manila Rizal Park Edition (70cl, 48%)

This limited edition of Big Peat, from Douglas Laing & Co., is a tribute to Rizal Park in Manila. Big Peat is a vatted malt made entirely from single malts, with no grain whisky, drawn from Islay distilleries including Ardbeg, Bowmore, Caol Ila and the closed Port Ellen. It is bottled at 48% in a 70cl bottle, without chill filtration or added colouring. The nose is smoky and maritime, with seaweed, charred driftwood and a touch of lemon zest. The palate is peaty, with smoky bacon, tar, cracked pepper and sweet malt, and an oily, chewy texture. The finish is long and briny, with oak, spice and a mineral coastal note.
