A 17-year-old Islay single malt from Laphroaig, distilled in April 1995 and bottled in November 2012 by the Scotch Malt Whisky Society as single cask 29.126, under the name Protects Against Vampires. It was matured in a refill ex-bourbon barrel and bottled at a cask strength of 60%, with 187 bottles filled.
The nose is fresh hay, canvas, spun sugar, honey-cured smoked ham, peppered steak and sweet cigar smoke. On the palate it is hot and fiery, with ginger beer, cigar ash and barbecued meat from the ashes. The finish is long, smoky and earthy.
