An 11-year-old Islay single malt from Ardbeg, distilled in August 1999 and bottled in November 2011 by the Scotch Malt Whisky Society as single cask 33.114, under the name Sweet Versus Savoury. It was matured in a refill ex-sherry butt and bottled at a cask strength of 56.3%, giving 630 bottles.
The nose is ripe orange, lime zest and grapefruit oil over tar and warm ash. The palate brings marzipan, vanilla cream and orange marmalade with peat embers and black pepper. The finish is long, with tarry smoke, citrus peel and pepper warmth.
