Ardbeg – Ardcore Limited Edition (75cl, 50.1%)

This is the Ardbeg Committee Release for Ardbeg Day 2022, an Islay single malt bottled at 50.1% in a 75cl bottle. It is non-chill-filtered, has no added colour and carries no age statement. Ardcore is the first Ardbeg made with roasted black malt. Its punk theme pays tribute to Islay's obscure 1970s punk scene and to "Punk Ellen," an affectionate nickname for Port Ellen. The nose is savoury and smoky, with marmite, burnt toast, chicory, charcoal, coffee grounds and bonfire smoke. The palate brings cocoa, dark chocolate, peanut brittle, smoked lime, soot and aniseed, and the finish is sweeter, with treacle toffee, soot and smoke.
