Big Peat The Thropaigeach Edition is a blended malt from Douglas Laing, in a 70cl bottle at 46% ABV. It is a blend of Islay single malts from distilleries including Ardbeg, Bowmore, Caol Ila and Port Ellen, matured in ex-bourbon barrels. It is bottled without chill filtration or colouring.
The name is Scots Gaelic for 'tropical', and this edition sets Islay smoke against fruit.
The nose combines sweet peat smoke with pineapple, coconut and citrus zest. The palate is creamy and smoky, with toasted oak, sea salt, mango and vanilla cream. The finish is long, smoky and lightly spiced, fading into charred fruit.
