Blackened Cask Strength Volume 01, by Metallica, is a blended American whiskey made from North American bourbons and ryes finished in brandy casks. It is unfiltered, bottled at cask strength and comes from a limited batch. The finishing casks are treated with Black Noise, a sonic process that sends low-frequency sound waves through the oak staves to draw more flavour from the wood. The nose brings rolled oats, vanilla wafer, fig, maple sugar and toffee. Walnut, caramel and vanilla cream lead the palate, followed by a finish of brown sugar, ancho chile and cinnamon spice.
