Blackened 'Rye The Lightning' Double Cask Rye Whiskey (75cl, 45%)

Blackened 'Rye The Lightning' is a limited edition Kentucky straight rye whiskey, finished in Madeira and rum casks and bottled at 45% in a 75cl bottle. It is a collaboration between master distiller Dave Pickerell and the band Metallica, made from rye aged between 5 and 8 years and hand-selected by Rob Dietrich. During the rum cask finish, the barrels are vibrated with low-frequency sound from Metallica's music, a process called Black Noise. The aim is to push the whiskey further into the wood and draw out more flavour and colour. The nose brings dried fig, hay, pinewood, pear and rum cake. On the palate there are clover honey, mint, corn husk, sugar cane, walnut and cinnamon.
