This is an 18 year old Pulteney bottled by Blind Summit at 51.8% ABV. It spent all eighteen years in a single refill bourbon hogshead.
The nose opens with oyster shell and sea spray, then moves to wild honey, sponge cake, preserved pears, butterscotch and green apple, with vanilla pod and stewed orchard fruit behind. The palate is built on honey in several forms, with yellow fruit, vanilla and Werther's Originals beneath. The finish is long, fading on salted honey and gentle fruit, with a last touch of the sea.
