Old Pulteney 15 Year (75cl, 46%)

Old Pulteney 15 Year is a Highland single malt Scotch whisky from Pulteney Distillery in Wick, on the north-east coast of Caithness. It is bottled at 46% without chill filtration, in a 75cl bottle. The whisky matures first in second-fill American oak ex-bourbon casks, then spends a finishing period in first-fill Spanish oak ex-oloroso sherry butts. The distillery's position beside the North Sea is said to give the casks a briny, coastal character. The nose offers oloroso sherry, fruitcake, honey and warm allspice. On the palate it is sweet and spiced, with Jaffa orange, sea salt, toffee and dark chocolate. The finish is medium in length, with orange peel, toasted oak and salted caramel.
