Old Pulteney 12 Year Old is a Highland single malt Scotch whisky from the Pulteney distillery in Pulteneytown, Wick, bottled at 40% ABV in a 75cl bottle.
It matures for twelve years in air-dried ex-bourbon American oak casks, using un-peated Scottish malt barley. The distillery is known for a wash still without a swan neck and for its traditional worm tub condenser.
The nose is coastal and salty, with green apple, honeyed cream and light citrus peel. The palate opens with butterscotch and honey, then moves to grapefruit peel and peppery warmth, with salinity throughout. The finish is long, with toffee, a hint of sea salt and gentle citrus.
