Blue Hanger 11th Limited Release is a blended malt from Berry Bros. & Rudd, made by marrying peated and unpeated Bunnahabhain from Islay. The series was first released in 2014, and this limited release is bottled at 45.6% ABV.
It draws on eight casks: four hogsheads, three sherry butts and one puncheon. The name honours William Hanger, 3rd Lord Coleraine, a customer of Berry Bros. & Rudd in the late 18th century who was known for his blue clothes.
The nose offers white fruit and fresh citrus over soft peat smoke, with honey-roasted nuts, vanilla and marzipan. Dark cocoa, mocha and orange peel come through on the palate, and the finish is creamy and sweet.
