Bomberger's Declaration is a Kentucky bourbon released annually, named for the 1753 heritage of what became Michter's Distillery. This 2023 release is bottled at 54% ABV (108 proof) in a 75cl bottle.
The bourbon is distilled in copper pot stills from corn, rye and malted barley, and aged in new, charred American white oak barrels with custom toasting. It is matured in heat-cycled warehouses.
The nose is vanilla, caramelised brown sugar and toasted oak, with dried fruits and light baking spices. The palate brings caramel and toffee with dark chocolate, cinnamon, clove and candied orange peel, balanced by rye spice. The finish is warm and lingering, with oak tannins, baking spices, vanilla and a peppery warmth.
