Borders 8 Year Old First Release is the inaugural single malt from the Borders distillery in the Lowlands, and the first single malt distilled in the Scottish Borders since 1837. It was released in September 2026 in a limited edition of 10,000 bottles.
All the barley was grown within 35 miles of the distillery. Distilled in 2018, the whisky spent eight years in first-fill American ex-bourbon barrels and was then finished in Malmsey Madeira casks. It is bottled at 46%.
The nose has rich sultanas, bright citrus and sweet caramel. The palate brings ripe berries and stem ginger, and the lingering finish carries hazelnut and macadamia before dried fruits.
