Bowmore – 17 Year Old Darkness Moscatel Cask Finish (50cl, 53.6%)

An independent Islay single malt from Bowmore, aged for 17 years and bottled in the Darkness. Series from Atom Brands. Before bottling it was finished in a Moscatel sherry octave cask, a small cask format that gives the sherry influence extra weight. Cask #11723/101 was bottled in 2020 at 53.6%, in a 50cl bottle. The sherry meets Bowmore's mix of fruit, coastal character and smoke. The nose is sweet, with blueberry pancakes, ripe fruit and a light smoke. On the palate come cinnamon buns, baked apple, spice and strong fireside smoke. The finish is spicy with cinnamon, turning softer and fruitier.
