Bowmore 18 Year Old is an Islay single malt from the Bowmore distillery, founded in 1779. It is bottled at 43% in a 75cl bottle.
Part of the whisky is matured in the No. 1 Vaults, a warehouse below sea level on the shores of Loch Indaal. The distillery dries its barley with Islay peat in its own floor maltings, and sherry oak adds dried fruit and dark chocolate to the smoke.
The nose brings dark chocolate, ripe stone fruit, gentle coastal peat smoke, sea salt and vanilla. The palate is rich and rounded, and the finish is long and warming, with lingering smoke and a clean salt note.
