This is a 32 year old Islay single malt from Bowmore, distilled in 1968 and bottled by the distillery in 2000. It was released for the 50th anniversary of the foundation of Stanley P Morrison, the company that later became Morrison Bowmore. Bottle 281 of 1860, at 45.5% ABV in a 70cl bottle.
The nose opens with tangerine, grapefruit and ripe melon, then vanilla ice cream, pears, apples, old rum, banana flambé, passion fruit and whiffs of smoke. The palate is big and bold, with grapefruit, lemon and passion fruit, then grape seeds, pineapple and white pepper. The finish is long and slightly bitter.
