An 18-year-old Islay single malt from Bowmore, from the 1971 vintage and bottled by the Italian independent Sestante at 40%.
The nose is described as caramel and sea breeze, with honeyed oysters, Earl Grey tea, old Sauternes and sultanas, and no peaty sensation. The palate is very sweet, with old sweet wine, chocolate, mocha and Oriental pastries, then white pepper, cloves and cinnamon, alongside ripe blackcurrants, raspberries and blueberries. The finish is very long and balanced, on candied fruit, spices and old sweet wines.
