A 1971 Bowmore from Islay, matured for 34 years in sherry wood and bottled at cask strength, 51% ABV. This official bottling is a limited edition, one of 960 bottles in 75cl.
The nose offers gingerbread, mulled wine and fruitcake, wine-poached pears, rosewater, prunes in Armagnac and Havana tobacco, with peat smoke, seaweed and brine beneath. The palate is liquoricy, resinous and meaty, with fermented fruit, wax, old oloroso rancio and herbs. The finish is drying.
