This is a Bowmore distilled in 1965 and bottled in 1985 at 20 years old by Gordon & MacPhail. It is an Islay single malt at natural cask strength, 48.5% ABV, in a 75cl bottle.
The nose begins quietly with soot, grass and rhubarb, then passion fruit and mango build, alongside blood orange, brine, kippers and a little cardamom, with pink grapefruit coming through at the end. On the palate there is plenty of citrus and tropical fruit, a mild smokiness and a drying spice of cinnamon and nutmeg. The finish is long and increasingly peppery, with a slightly cardboardy note in the aftertaste.
