Broken Barrel Kentucky Straight Bourbon is an American bourbon bottled at 47.5% in a 75cl bottle. It is made from 70% corn, 21% rye and 9% malted barley, and matured for a minimum of two years in new charred American oak.
Its distinguishing feature is the Oak Bill finish, in which pieces of wood from different types of cask are added to the whiskey in a tank rather than finishing it in whole barrels. The wood is a mix of new French oak, ex-bourbon barrel wood and sherry cask wood.
The nose brings vanilla, caramel, toasted oak, ripe fruit and orange peel. The palate is sweet, with sweet corn, rye spice and cinnamon, and the finish is long and spiced.
