Bruichladdich – 1993/2022 29 Year Old Black Art Edition 10.1 (70cl, 45.1%)

A 29 year old Islay single malt from Bruichladdich, distilled in 1993 and bottled in 2022 as Black Art Edition 10.1. It is unpeated, non-chill-filtered and without added colour, bottled at 45.1% in a 70cl bottle. The whisky matured on Islay in casks dating from before the distillery reopened. Head Distiller Adam Hannett chose them, and the barley and cask types are kept secret. The nose is warm, with toasted oak, chocolate, cedar and leather alongside apricot jam, ripe melon, cherries and blackcurrant. The palate is soft and velvety, with orange barley sugar, ginger and nut pastry and stewed apricots. The finish is very soft, with sweet fudge, ripe berries and fine tobacco.
