Bruichladdich 30 Year Old is an unpeated Islay single malt, drawn entirely from handpicked ex-bourbon casks. The spirit was distilled in the early 1990s, before the distillery was mothballed for a time in 1994, and it matured on Islay for the full thirty years.
It is pale gold in the glass with a soft, silky mouthfeel. The nose brings coconut, Brazil nuts and vanilla, then geranium, rose, pear drops, candied lemon and a little cinnamon. The finish is long, with a tang of Islay sea salt alongside toasted oak, coconut, fudge and vanilla.
