This 2013 Bruichladdich single malt is made from Bere barley, described as Britain's oldest continuously cultivated cereal. Once a staple for Scotland's distillers, it fell out of favour when newer varieties were chosen for yield rather than flavour. Bruichladdich has worked since 2005 to bring Bere back, together with the Agronomy Institute of the University of the Highlands and Islands, and the barley is grown in Orkney. It is matured in ex-bourbon and ex-wine casks, and is noted for a buttery texture.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
