Bruichladdich – Black Art 11.1 24 Years Old (70cl, 44.2%)

Black Art 11.1 is a 24-year-old unpeated single malt from Bruichladdich on Islay, bottled at 44.2% ABV. It is the seventh Black Art, created by Head Distiller Adam Hannett, who alone chooses the number and types of casks married for each edition. Every cask in this one dates from before the distillery was reopened. The nose opens with dried fruit, leather and a little citrus, then sea spray, poached pears, rosehip syrup, black cherry and ripe mango. On the palate come dates, raisins, malt sugar, leather and oak, with ripe apples and pears, dark plums and marzipan. The finish is long and harmonious, with oak, dried fruit and sultanas.
