This is the first edition of Bruichladdich Fifteen, a 15-year-old Islay single malt in a 70cl bottle at 46% ABV.
It is lightly peated, which lets a fresh, maritime coastal character come through. The whisky matured in 80% bourbon casks and 20% oloroso sherry casks.
The nose is distinctive, with fresh flowers, heather, fudge, crème brûlée and a hint of sherry. The palate is full of sweet malt, biscuits, butterscotch and tropical fruit, with a touch of oak and salinity. The finish is soft and lingers.
