This is an unpeated Bruichladdich single malt from the Barley Exploration series, distilled in 2014 and matured for eight years. It was made from 100% Concerto and Propino barley grown on eight farms within an 11-mile radius of the distillery.
The whisky matured in first-fill ex-bourbon barrels (80%), second-fill ex-sherry butts (5%) and second-fill French wine casks (15%).
The nose offers fresh bread, digestive biscuits and hay, then ripe apricot, pear drops, vanilla custard and a hint of wet flint. The palate is thick and oily, with honeyed malt, porridge and citrus zest, then peach, banana bread and coconut. The finish is medium-long and crisp, with nutmeg and a trace of sea spray.
