Bruichladdich – Islay Barley 2014 (50%)

This is the 2014 vintage of Bruichladdich Islay Barley, an unpeated single malt made from locally grown barley and bottled at 50%. The Concerto and Propino barley came from eight farms within 11 miles of the distillery: Coull, Rockside, Island, Mulindry, Cruach, Dunlossit, Craigens and Sunderland. The whisky matured for more than eight years, mostly in first-fill bourbon casks (80%), with second-fill sherry butts (5%) and second-fill wine casks (15%). It is a grainy malt with apricot and peach, malty digestive biscuit and a little fresh grass, and a subtle maritime note lingers.
