Octomore 12.2 is a heavily peated Islay single malt from Bruichladdich, bottled at 57.3% in a 70cl bottle and measuring 129.7 ppm. It was made from 100% Concerto barley, grown on the Scottish mainland, harvested in 2014 and distilled in 2015.
The whisky spent three and a half years in a 50:50 vatting of first and second fill American whiskey casks, then a further 18 months in French first fill Sauternes casks. Matured for five years on Islay, it is non-chill-filtered and has no added colour.
The nose brings melon, honey and smoked almonds, with orange zest, peach and lemon. The palate is soft and fruity, with vanilla, caramel and baking spices, and the finish is salty and smoky.
