Bruichladdich Octomore 14.1 is a heavily peated Islay single malt, distilled from 100% Scottish barley at 128.9ppm. It matured for five years in first-fill American oak casks and has a golden amber colour.
The nose brings smoked vanilla, sweet caramel and toffee over peat smoke, with coconut, flaked almonds, citrus and lemon meringue pie. On the palate, citrus, smoke and a clear minerality are followed by toasted oak, toffee and creamy vanilla, with pear, gooseberry, green apple, roasted coffee beans and heather honey. The finish has butterscotch, vanilla, earthy peat smoke, salty spray, burnt heather and gorse flower.
