This is Octomore 14.1, a heavily peated Islay single malt from Bruichladdich and the baseline of the 14th Octomore series. It was distilled in 2017 from Concerto barley of the 2016 Scottish harvest and matured for 5 years in first-fill ex-American whiskey casks. It is bottled at 59.6% ABV and 128.9ppm, in a 70cl bottle.
The nose has smoked vanilla, caramel, toffee, sooty smoke, coconut and flaked almonds, with citrus. The palate brings citrus, minerality, charred oak and bonfire embers, with pear and green apple. The finish has peat smoke, a hint of salt spray, burnt heather and gorse flowers.
