Octomore 14.2 is a cask strength Islay single malt from Bruichladdich, bottled at 57.7% in a 70cl bottle with a peating level of 128.9ppm. It was distilled in 2017 from Concerto barley of the 2016 Scottish harvest and is five years old.
Four years were spent in Oloroso casks (40%) and first-fill (16%) and second-fill (44%) Amarone casks, followed by a year in Pauillac wine casks. The colour is deep amber.
The nose brings leather, prunes, red currants and malted barley, then toasted oak, cinnamon, green apple and black pepper. Smoke, red fruits, malt and porridge notes follow, with dry, brooding peat smoke, burnt heather and a little pipe tobacco.
