Octomore 14.2 is a heavily peated single malt from Bruichladdich, distilled in 2017 from barley harvested in 2016. It is made from 100% Concerto barley and peated to 128.9 PPM.
Maturation began in first-fill American bourbon casks. The whisky then spent five years in first-fill Oloroso sherry casks (40%) and Amarone casks, first-fill (16%) and refill (44%), before the casks were combined in French oak.
Leather, plum and redcurrant lead the nose, with toasted oak, cinnamon, green apple and burnt heather. The palate is dry, with smoked oak, roasted coffee, black pepper and fruit cake, and the finish settles into smoked malt, oak and sea salt.
