Octomore 14.2 is a heavily peated Islay single malt from Bruichladdich. It is made from 100% Scottish Mainland Concerto barley at 128.9 ppm, as the 14.1 was.
Head Distiller Adam Hannett chose former Oloroso and Amarone casks from Spain and Italy for the maturation. The whisky was then married in French oak.
The nose offers leather, plums, redcurrants and malted barley, with toasted oak, cinnamon and black pepper, and restrained smoke. The palate is dry and spicy, with toasted oak and roasted coffee beans, and fruit cake sweetness builds. The finish is smoked malt, glowing charcoal and sea salt.
